It's all about right fragrance!

Years ago the choice of fragrances wasn't as versatile as it is today. Now we have countless brands and blends, but I still think it comes down to the right fragrance more than the right brand. Have you ever stood near someone and thought "this perfume doesn't do you right"? That makes sense — not every fragrance works on every person, because a lot of it is chemistry.

Your skin chemistry isn't the same as your friend's. But everyone wants to smell good — nobody wants to be "the smelly one" in the group.

It comes down partly to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). We're generally drawn to mates with dissimilar MHCs, which gives offspring a more diverse immune system. Our scent advertises our immunogenetic profile to potential mates, whether we realize it or not. Worth keeping in mind next time you're picking a new fragrance.

Picking the right fragrance takes a little testing. Spray your top choice into the air and smell it. Spray it on your wrist and check back in 15 minutes. Check again after an hour. If it still smells good on you at all three stages, it's the one.
